Shelter Adopted:

I grew up with cats with some of my most prominent memories being visiting cats and kittens alike at our local shelter. My family always thought we’d just stop at two cats, but every time we visited, we left playing with the idea of adding another furry friend to our family. For a while, we only had two cats who we loved very dearly, but when Father's Day came closer and we asked my dad what he wanted he said, like a thousand times before: “A cat.” And like clockwork, my mom said no at first, but then a few days later she approached me with her iPad and I knew we would be adding to our family again. On the shiny screen was the picture of a tiny little kitten the color of caramel and fall with a tiny darker spot on her forehead. It was a perfect little dot. And what was her name? Her name was Dot. We could just feel that was meant to be our cat, so we raced to submit our application for adoption. Much to our dismay, the application refused to go through, but we refused to give up. I filled out the application for our Dot maybe seven times before it went through. We waited desperately to get an exciting yes or a disappointing no. After a few days of persistently checking my mom’s email, we got word back. We had been picked to be Dot’s new home. It was impossible not to feel like a little kid again as my mom and I rushed to the store to pick up toys and a new bed for Dot. At last, It was time to pick her up! She barely paid any mind to us as she spent a couple more minutes zooming around the room with her sister, Midge, and another foster kitten. She was adorable, funny, and we would soon learn she was a perfect fit for us. Now after getting to know her for a little over a year, Dot is a perfect fit. She meows when she can’t find you and if you call out for her she comes running. She makes funny noises when she wants attention or she jumps up on the couch. She stares right into your eyes and loves everyone she meets. She’s a love-bug that perfectly balances the personalities of our other cats. Through adoption, we have found not only pets but the puzzle pieces that complete this family. So, I and my family encourage you to go out there and find the missing puzzle pieces to complete your family.
