Shelter Adopted:

My daughter, Sonya, tagged me in a Facebook post about the newest batch of puppies arriving on island and my friend, Nicole, sent me a private message through messenger saying I should come stop by and see the little puppy she was fostering that hadn’t been scooped up at the first meet and greet. Well, Sonya and I walked in and saw this little puppy named Patty Cakes...it was love at first sight. Patty Cakes, now known as Roo, had this funny way of walking. She hopped everywhere. She was just too darn cute. I knew we just had to add her to our little family. I went home immediately and filled out the application online and went to the meet and greet the following day to pick up Roo and take her home. There was another couple there who had come all the way from the mainland who wanted to adopt Roo. They told me they had a cat who had the same funny walk. And how neat it would be to have a dog that walked that way too? I felt bad, because I knew she was coming home with us and not them. But I was over to moon with joy at our new puppy. I can’t imagine life without her. To think this all started with a tag in a post on social media. After a couple of weeks it dawned on me why they gave her the name patty cakes. She loves to stand on her hind end wave her front paws at you. As if she’s trying to play patty cakes with you.
