Shelter Adopted:  

Bella is our first child. I had been with my husband Kevin for almost 4 years and always talked about having a dog.  He came from a family that always went to breeders.  Specifically golden retrievers.  I wasn't against it but it just didn't feel like me.  I had been, essentially, adopted by my family and needed to do the same.  I had control of my life finally as an adult and needed to do something that I felt good about.  Kevin is a dog lover and loves me so I knew I'd be getting what I wanted.  We went to an animal shelter we had heard about through a friend and I went around the whole place trying to connect to a dog.  I asked to see a couple of dogs and they were great, they didn't let us down in excitement. As I walked around I found this unique looking dog.  She wouldn't go near us at all!  I asked to have a private hang out with her.  She was 4 months old and she would NOT GO NEAR US.  Eventually, she let her guard down and rolled on her back so we could slowly walk to her.  We realized she needed a home she could trust more than ever...Her name is Bella.
