Shelter Adopted:
The day I adopted Blake I wasn’t even sure I was going to get a dog. I was months away from turning 30 and going through a terrible break up. My brother-in-law Clint thought I needed a dog, I laughed and reminded him that I was living in his basement. My sister Jenni, pulled up the Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue site that they adopted their dog from. Jenni pointed out a black dog named Tootsie with white paws, and told me to adopt her and call her Sox. Initially I was not feeling it. But the day came and they asked “are you getting a dog today?” I said yes.
Jenni, Clint and their baby Felicity went with me. We waited in line for an hour and saw 2 dogs. I wasn’t really sure about either of them but they were both so sweet. Licking my face and wagging their tails, they were great dogs but I just couldn’t get excited about any of them. The rescue requires that each person see 3 potential adoptees so Jenni suggested again that we meet Tootsie. When they placed the puppy with us she was shaking and peed in the corner. She wanted nothing to do with us. That was the moment I decided she was the dog for me!
It was meant to be, I changed her name to Blake Lovely. I figured we could tackle the world together, I was scared of the big changes in my life and figured we could conquer our fears together. It was the best decision I have ever made. Blake is quirky and wonderful. She has enriched my life so much and has a happy and loving home, with 2 dog parents who love her!
